Educational PC games do not fit well on the students’ schedule. Moreover, the teacher cannot allocate certain time for the game since he does not know the exact time needed for the students to accomplish sub-goals and eventually finish the game. Teachers can set a deadline for when students must end the game and move onto a new unit. Consequently, students who do not finish the game successfully will be discouraged. On the other hand, if teachers allow students to stay on a game until they finish, they run the risk of some students falling behind others.
When students and teachers depend heavily on educational PC games to teach, learn and review material they will lose the traditional educational skills that enable them to work properly outside the digital source. Since many teachers, students and parents are using the educational PC games, these traditional educational skills are becoming very week. Furthermore; students, teachers and parents must interact physically.
Setting up an educational PC game needs a lot of planning. Furthermore, Teachers and parents need to sit down and play the game themselves all the way through, which can take about 40 hours, before they fully understand the game and its objectives. Although most educational PC games have a built-in tool to track the students’ progress, teacher still have to find a way to interpret the students’ game progress into a list of objective that have been accomplished.
