LOCAL
The local impact in the geographical digital divide is between the city and countryside. In Qatar, there are many cities surrounded by lots of buildings and businesses. Every city in Qatar has a city center where thousands of people are living. In these cities, there is an Information and communication technology infrastructure, which help people to access the internet. However, if you go to Zekreet which is a village in north-western Qatar near Dukhan and about 90 km northwest of Doha, you will only see a desert. In Zekreet you can also get internet access but the connection might not be very good as you will be surrounded by sand dunes and the implemented information and communication technology is not the same as the one implemented in the main cities. In the long run, the geographical difference between different areas in a country is one of the causes of local digital divide.
