what is life in the information age
At this point in the e-book, you must have come a cross the words ‘information age’ at least 40 times. So what is the information age? The information age, also known as the digital age or the computer age, is a period in human history where people can simply transmit, exchange, store, modify and access information in a matter of minutes, or in most cases seconds, at any time and from any where. There are various mediums used to do so, for instance: multimedia, wireless technology, digital television and the internet.
The information age we are living in began at the end of the 20th century; this fact brings up tempting questions like, how did the information age begin? How was life before this information age? Where are we in terms of technology oppose to previous centuries? Centuries before the information age, people used to risk their lives by leaving their homes, even in bad conditions, in order to look for food, or to get water, or to seek education, or work for money. Also tasks in earlier centuries like communicating, working in an office or even washing clothes use to take a long time to do. However, now in the information age we can work from the comfort of our home, chat with our friends despite long distances, wash our clothes using microprocessor controlled devices and much more. This shows how “necessity is the mother of inventions”, a phrase very popular these days. The digital revolution started because humans always seek short cuts and conveniences.
