Cultural impact
Internet restrictions is one of the many forms of the digital divide, but what is it? Internet restriction is the control of what can be accessed, published, or viewed on the Internet endorsed by governments for moral, religious, or cultural reasons. These governments are concerned that their cultural, religious or political beliefs and behavior may be affected. For example, Internet access Restrictions in North Korea ranks among some of extreme in the world, with the government able to take strict control over communications to prevent any contact with the rest of the word. Moreover, United Arab Emirates restricts access to certain websites that are in conflict with their religious beliefs and behavior such as gambling, pornography and dating. On the other hand, China restricts access to certain websites that contain information about human rights and democracy. Likewise, in 2008, Iran has blocked access to more than five million Internet sites, whose content is mostly perceived as immoral and anti-cultural.
