Factors
The digital divide often discussed in an international situation, describes the gap between developed countries that are fully equipped with information and communication technology and less economically developed countries. Moreover, the digital divide exists between those in cities and those that are in the countryside/rural areas. According to studies and reports, the digital divide is still rapidly increasing. June 2013 U.S. White House broadband report, for example, indicated that only 71% of American homes have implemented broadband internet connection, a figure lower than in other countries with comparable gross domestic product. Although there are various factors causing the digital divide, in this E book I will be covering the following three different and main factors affecting the digital divide:
- Social
- Economic
- Geographic
